An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk to join a forward thinking team based within Care Group 2. The service provides a wide range of services encompassing acute medicine, elderly medicine, stroke, haematology, cardiology, gastroenterology, diabetes and endocrinology, and respiratory. Our aim to provide high quality care to our patients with excellent patient experience outcomes.

Attention to detail, organisational skills with precise and clear communication are vital parts of this important role alongside good IT skills.

Full support and internal training will be offered to the successful candidate.

This role is covering cross site (including Hartlepool) and weekend shifts on a rota basis.

Main duties of the job

Administrative support to ward staff, liaising with other departments within the Trust and outside the organisation.

This role is an integral part in the achievement of the Trust's strategic objectives.

The post holder will be required to assist in the provision of a professional, high quality effective and efficient administrative and clerical support service to a multi-disciplinary team that meets the needs of the service and the requirements of all related policies, procedures and guidelines, meeting the high demands of the post, and working to tight deadlines whilst remaining calm, flexible and organised.

Job responsibilities

Undertake daily administrative and clerical duties specific to ward area (to be supplied by wards) to support the provision of patient care on the ward, by taking direction from ward managers/matron and nursing staff as appropriate to ensure patient safety and the security and confidentiality of all patient related information.

Dealing with queries from service users including General Practitioners, patients and their representatives, in a professional and courteous manner that is consistent with legislation, policies and procedures including data protection and confidentiality, sourcing any relating information that might help deal with the query, taking accurate written messages and passing more complex queries on to relevant staff.

Ensure that all work tasks are carried out to a high standard of quality which meets all of the organisations requirements for patient safety, information governance, data protection and confidentiality.
