As our Control Communications Manager, you’ll lead the team responsible for keeping customers informed across all channels, ensuring clear, timely and accurate messages that help passengers make confident decisions.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Leading, coaching, and motivating a team of Controllers delivering real‑time information.
* Overseeing Long Line Public Announcement (LLPA) and Customer Information Screen (CIS) systems.
* Working with Network Rail and partners to plan upgrades and new schemes for customer information systems.
* Developing strategies and projects that enhance communication technology and tone.
* Building relationships across Northern with IT, Customer Experience, Marketing, Service Delivery to keep information accurate and aligned.
* Monitoring system performance, resolving issues and spotting continuous improvement opportunities.
About You
* Solid railway experience and understanding of Control operations, passenger services and customer information.
* Strong leadership skills, motivating a fast‑paced team.
* Robust understanding of industry systems delivering information to customers.
* Experience managing or delivering CIS, LLPA or similar.
* Track record of running projects from start to finish on time and to standard.
* Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders and partners.
* Confidence making decisions under pressure when customers rely on you.
