Prospect Hospice is seeking an experienced seniorclinical leader to take strategic and operational responsibility for ourcommunity palliative and end-of-life care services across Swindon, Marlboroughand Northeast Wiltshire.
This is a substantive senior leadership role withaccountability for service performance, workforce, quality, governance andsystem partnership working.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week(Monday Friday, with flexibility as required)
Equivalent to NHS Band 8a(please note we are not on agenda for change)
The role
Reporting to the Director of Patient Services, youwill provide visible, professional and operational leadership for:
Single Point of Contact (SPOC)
Community Clinical Nurse Specialists
Hospice at Home
Community Clinical Administration
You Will be accountable for ensuring services are:
Safe robust governance, risk management and safestaffing
Effective evidence-based practice and measurableoutcomes
Caring compassionate, patient-centred care
Responsive timely, equitable access across thecommunity
Well-led strong leadership culture aligned to CQCstandards
You Will oversee service performance, KPIs, budgetmanagement, workforce planning and regulatory compliance, while leading servicedevelopment and transformation in response to local need and nationalpalliative care priorities.
Main duties of the job
System Leadership & Strategic Impact
This role extends beyond operational delivery.
You Will:

Represent the hospice in the ICB and system forums
Strengthen integration with NHS community services, primary care, acute trusts and voluntary sector partners
Contribute to neighbourhood and single point of contact models
Lead service redesign and innovation
Support business case development and service expansion opportunities
Contribute to education, research, audit and quality improvement programmes

About You
We are looking for a leader operating at NHS Band 8a level (or equivalent) with:
Current UK professional registration (NMC/HCPC or equivalent)
Significant senior clinical leadership experience in community and/or palliative care
Proven operational management of clinical services, including workforce and budget responsibility
Strong knowledge of CQC standards and clinical governance frameworks
Experience of leading multidisciplinary teams in complex, emotionally demanding environments
Experience of cross-organisational partnership working
A postgraduate qualification in leadership, advanced clinical practice or palliative care is desirable.

Prospect Hospice is an independent hospice supporting a community of300,000 people in Swindon, Marlborough and North Wiltshire, and the villages ofLechlade and Fairford in Gloucestershire.
It is the only dedicated provider ofspecialist end of life care services within it's locality. The Hospicesmulti-professionals teams support people in the community, in care homes, atthe Great Western Hospital and at the Hospice in Wroughton. Care is alsoextended to the families and friends of patients.

Qualifications

Registered healthcare professional (e.g. Nurse, Allied Health Professional) with current registration with the relevant professional body (e.g. NMC, HCPC).
Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience.
Postgraduate qualification in leadership, advanced clinical practice, or palliative/end-of-life care or similar level experience and a commitment to further study.

Experience

Significant senior clinical leadership and management experience within community and/or palliative care services.
Proven experience of operational management of clinical services, including workforce management, performance monitoring, and service delivery.
Demonstrable experience of working within a clinical governance framework, including audit, risk management, incident investigation, and quality improvement.
Experience of leading multidisciplinary teams in complex and emotionally demanding clinical environments.
In-depth knowledge of palliative and end-of-life care principles, community healthcare delivery, and integrated care systems.
Strong understanding of CQC regulations, quality standards and regulatory compliance within clinical services.
Knowledge of national and local policy relating to palliative and end-of-life care. Experience of working at Band 8a (or equivalent).
Experience of service redesign, transformation, or implementation of new models of community care.
Experience of working collaboratively across organisational boundaries, including NHS, social care, and voluntary sector partners.
