Reporting to the Assistant Director, this fixed-term role involves overseeing some of the team's commissioning and monitoring activities. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other Senior Programme Managers.
The role offers opportunities for external liaison with UK Government, academia, industry, and the clinical community.
Key responsibilities
* Overall responsibility for the team’s commissioning and monitoring activities, including overseeing these activities
* Contributing to and leading strategic programme and departmental initiatives
* Drafting SOPs, work instructions, template documents, and issuing guidelines
* Attending regional advisory committee meetings in a supervisory capacity and providing advice when required
* Representing RfPB in NIHR cross-cutting working groups as appropriate
* Liaising regularly with internal and external stakeholders, leading meetings, and promoting funding programmes at external events
* Identifying improvements to working practices and supporting operational excellence
* Building and maintaining professional relationships with GMG teams, applicants, award holders, NIHR colleagues, and other organizations
* Managing ad hoc special projects and assisting in preparing programme reports and papers
* Line management of up to three staff members
* Monitoring the quality and timelines of Research Managers' work within the team
* Recruiting, mentoring, training, and supervising staff

* Experience in research management, preferably in healthcare
