Clinical Director – Belford Hospital
Pay: £111,430 - £148,064 per annum pro rata
Term: Three year fixed term with option for extension by mutual agreement for one year only. Afterward there will be an opportunity for the incumbent to re‑apply, but only in open competition with any other interested and eligible applicant.
Position Summary: You are a senior medical leadership role which supports Managers in the safe and effective delivery of clinical services at Belford Hospital. You will be a visible champion of NHS Highland values and will work across departments to deliver a whole‑hospital service which maximises collaboration and mutual support. You will advise on recruitment, retention and deployment of clinical staff, managing rotas and coordinating leave requests, including engagement of temporary staff where required. A commitment to innovation, patient pathway optimisation and quality improvement are essential.
Key Responsibilities: You will act as a focal point of communication both internally and externally, providing professional advice within the hospital and its locality. You will assist the management team in resolving patient concerns and complaints, coordination of job‑planning for medical staff within the hospital, and play an active role in the governance of hospital services within the NHS Highland QPS and clinical governance framework.
1. Current practice as a medically qualified consultant within NHS Highland with experience of working in Belford hospital.
2. A understanding of clinical governance.
3. An understanding of how to provide leadership to clinical colleagues including job planning and dealing with challenging situations in the workplace such as complaints between colleagues.
4. Promoting colleagues and departmental continuous learning and development.
5. Understanding of or formal training in improvement methodologies.
