We are looking to recruit a Dietitian to support our acute team during a period of maternity leave caring for inpatients, based at Royal Bolton Hospital. The caseload will include managing a caseload of inpatients, some requiring parental nutrition, and an outpatient clinic for gastroenterology patients at Lever Chambers Centre for Health.

You will report to the Acute Teams, Team Leaders. The successful post holder will be part of the wider Bolton Foundation Trust Dietetic Department. The department comprises two teams, acute and community, with a total of 19 W.T.E staff. We provide an integrated service across both hospital and community sites, meeting the needs of our patients across Bolton.

As a department, we encourage quality improvement and audit work.

We are experienced trainers for student dietitians, currently providing P1, P2, and P3 placements with the University of Chester, MMU, and UCLAN.

The service operates a flexi-time working arrangement and recognizes the importance of balancing work and family commitments. The post is a 22.5 hours/week position.

Main duties of the job

* Work as an autonomous practitioner within the Community Nutritional Support Team, supported by highly specialist therapists.
* Perform therapeutic assessments of patients with diverse presentations and complex conditions, providing diagnoses and developing individualized treatment programs.
* Manage a defined caseload, using evidence-based, client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
* Provide clinical education, advice, and support for junior therapy staff and support staff.
* Offer highly specialist knowledge, skills, and advice to clients and be a source of expertise for therapy staff, MDT members, and other agencies.
* Supervise, educate, and assess the performance of therapy students.
* Contribute to service research and audit activities.
* Propose service changes within your professional specialty area.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or relevant equivalent with PG Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics.
* Registered with HCPC.
* Member of British Dietetic Association and North West & North Wales branch.


Experience

* At least one year of practice as a dietitian.
* Experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition.
* Experience in gastroenterology, including FODMAP diets.


Skills

* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to deliver presentations and evaluate teaching sessions.
* Patient-centered approach, with motivational interviewing and dietary counseling skills.
* Effective interpersonal skills and team working commitment.
* Basic IT skills: email, internet, Word, PowerPoint.
* Good time management and organizational skills.
* Ability to travel around Bolton, with access to a suitable vehicle.


Knowledge

* Evidence-based knowledge of clinical dietetics, including enteral/parenteral nutrition and IBS/IBD treatments.
* Understanding of Clinical Governance, professional conduct, and confidentiality.
* Knowledge of NHS priorities, targets, NSF's, and NICE guidance.
* Ability to critically evaluate clinical evidence.
* Understanding of complex gastroenterology cases.
* Flexibility, openness to new ideas, and modernization of services.
* Self-motivated, confident decision-maker, receptive to support.
* Friendly, supportive, caring, and committed to personal development.
* Supportive of equality, diversity, and rights.
