UEA is inviting applications for the post of Research Technician to assist in the research of a BBSRC-funded project which explores a novel role for amino acids in subverting metal toxicity in pathogenic Gram-positive bacteria. The research aims to uncover new molecular mechanisms by which amino acid metabolism influences bacterial survival under metal stress, with implications for antimicrobial development and understanding host-pathogen interactions.
Base pay range
Starting salary from £26,707 per annum (pro rata), dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £30,378 per annum (pro rata).

Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation and execution of microbiological and biochemical experiments.
* Maintain laboratory stocks, reagents, and equipment.
* Support data collection, entry, and basic analysis.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Contribute to the smooth running of the laboratory and support the research team as required.
Requirements
* You will have laboratory experience in biological science, microbiology or biochemistry labs. You must be able to meet all of the essential criteria set out in the Person Specification.
Term
This part-time (0.6 FTE) post is available from 1 November 2025 on a fixed term basis for up to three years.
