Let’s fix hospitality, for good.
Hospitality is tough – margins are thin, waste is high, and teams are stretched. But it doesn’t have to be this hard. That’s why we built Nory. Our CEO, Conor, knows the pain first-hand. After founding and scaling Mad Egg in Ireland, he got fed up with juggling “market‑leading” systems, clunky spreadsheets, and endless printouts. So he set out to build the tool he wished he’d had from day one.
Nory is an all‑knowing restaurant management system. It blends real‑time data with AI predictive analytics, giving operators control of their margins. From food prep to forecasting, it’s operational intelligence that helps restaurants run with consistency, certainty, and profit. The result? Thriving restaurants, better jobs, less waste, healthier margins.
Fresh off a Series B led by Kinnevik, we’ve grown to 80+ people across Ireland, the UK, Spain and New York – and demand is scaling faster than we ever imagined.
The role
We’re looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join our Inventory team. Inventory is one of the key components of the Nory operating software. It underpins COGS, gross profit, financial reporting, and our ability to automate ordering and reconciliation at scale. This team is responsible for making Nory’s inventory data reliable day‑to‑day, robust enough for enterprise finance teams, and ready to support our 2026 AI vision.
This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll balance technical ownership, delivery, and people leadership to ship a reliable, high‑impact product.
What you’ll be doing
* Own the technical direction and delivery of Inventory at Nory, ensuring data integrity across orders, invoices, stock counts, recipes, waste, and suppliers.
* Raise the reliability bar by leading initiatives like audit trails, immutable data patterns, and locked stock periods – enabling traceability, accountability, and enterprise confidence.
* Improve the accuracy of COGS and stock valuation, tackling complex reconciliation problems such as opening and closing stock alignment, VAT handling, and supplier pricing logic.
* Reduce manual effort through automation, including smart matching, confidence‑based routing, and AI‑assisted workflows that cut noise, errors, and human‑in‑the‑loop overhead.
* Lay the foundations for explainable AI, building systems where every automated action can be traced, verified, and trusted by customers and auditors.
* Partner closely with Product, Data, Design, and Customer teams to balance correctness, usability, and speed of delivery in a highly operational domain.
* Lead and coach a squad of engineers, setting clear direction, reviewing code, unblocking delivery, and fostering a culture of ownership, pragmatism, and continuous improvement.
* Act as a multiplier for delivery, keeping the team focused on outcomes that reduce churn, improve margins, and unlock scale for Nory’s next phase.
What you’ll bring
* People leadership: You’ve led an engineering squad and take accountability for team health, performance, and growth. You run structured 1:1s, give clear feedback, and coach engineers to raise their impact.
* Product‑focused delivery: You’ve owned meaningful initiatives end‑to‑end within a cross‑functional squad (Engineering, Product, Design, Data), delivering measurable customer or commercial outcomes.
* Strong product instincts: You shape scope alongside Product, make pragmatic trade‑offs (speed vs quality, scope vs impact), and keep your team focused on outcomes – not just output.
* Hands‑on technical leadership: You’re a strong Senior/early Staff‑level engineer who can design systems at squad scope, guide architectural decisions, and unblock engineers while staying close to the code.
* Systems thinking: You design for scale and reliability, reasoning clearly about data, system boundaries, and long‑term maintainability as the product grows.
* Delivery ownership: You take responsibility for your squad’s pace and outcomes, proactively identifying risks, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring work lands.
* Clear communication: You bring structure to discussions, explain complex ideas simply, and build alignment across engineering and non‑engineering stakeholders.
Nice to have
* Experience building financial or inventory systems of record.
* Exposure to AI‑assisted workflows, automation, or ML‑driven decision systems.
* Experience supporting enterprise customers with audit or compliance needs.
What you’ll get in return
* 🌍 Remote‑first working environment – You must have the right to work in the UK or EU to be considered for this role.
* 💰 Competitive salary depending on experience
* 📈 Meaningful equity, at Nory everyone is an owner!
* 🌴 35 days of paid leave per year (including bank holidays)
* 🏥 Comprehensive private health insurance via Irish Life (Ireland) and Axa (UK)
* 🍼 Enhanced parental leave and baby loss support
* 📚 Learning & development culture – €1000 personal annual budget + quarterly book budget
* 🖥️ €250 home office workspace budget
* 🥳 Regular team offsites & socials
* ✈️ Work from anywhere for up to 3 months of the year
* 📍 Offices in either London, Dublin or Spain
