Job summary
Due to expansion, this position provides an exciting opportunity to workindependently in a progressive GP practice that provides echocardiographyalongside many other diagnostic services.
This opportunity is for an Echocardiographer who will join our team of four echocardiographers based at Estuary View Medical Centre, Whitstable Medical Practice. We operate a high quality, expanding, community-based echo service that is supported by GPwERs in cardiology and open to any patient registered within East Kent.
We are a small friendly team and have excellent facilities with a static Phillips Affinity machine, GE Static machine plus a portable GE machine. We work closely with Kings College London cardiology department for support and guidance, with monthly satellite cardiology clinics being operated by Kings at Estuary View.
We are seeking part-time applications for 24 hours a week worked over Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. The pay rate will be equivalent to band 8a.
Whitstable Medical Practice offers the NHS pension scheme, along with annual leave and sick pay entitlement.
Main duties of the job
The post entailsdiagnostic echocardiography scanning and reporting on good quality staticmachines, utilising a modern PACS system.
The successfulapplicant would be expected to work independently day-to-day, but will beworking alongside a team of experienced echocardiographers and a GP with anextended role in cardiology, who will all provide support. You will be joininga cohesive team of echocardiographers, sonographers, radiographers, advancedpractitioners and GPs who will work closely with you.
Participation inpeer review audits, as per the BSE guidelines, is expected along withattendance at our friendly, regular Echo governance meetings where we discussinteresting cases and new trends.

Whitstable Medical Practice is a forward thinking single Practice PCN GP Practice based across 3 sites in the attractive harbour town of Whitstable. There are 26 equity partners and 6 Salaried GPs looking after 43,500 patients. We pride ourselves on our innovative approach to Primary Care. We are a training practice and run various in house contracts including Cataract surgery, Ultrasound, Dermatology, Physical Therapies and Audiology together with further community contracts, a Day Surgery Suite and an Urgent Treatment Centre with digital x-ray.

Key Purpose
· To ensure the provision of a quality echo service for patients registered within East Kent.
· To carry out diagnostic echocardiography and report clinical echo studies independently and promptly whilst adhering to British Society of Echocardiography latest standards.
· To support with teaching and support other members of the department with their learning.
· To work co-operatively and collaboratively with members of other professions and disciplines, ensuring a patient-centered approach.
· Liaise regularly with our in-house radiology team and GPwER in cardiology.
· Assist the lead echocardiographer in the smooth running of the service.
· Take part in regular audits alongside other members of the Echo team.
Technical
· To be a specialist in the field of echocardiography, giving expert professional advice where required.
· To be an expert in the use and set up of the Cardiac Ultrasound equipment and reporting.
· Keep up to date with the latest research/guidelines to ensure knowledge and practice is up-to-date with national guidelines.
Educational
· To provide guidance and support to junior staff delivering the service if required.
· To assist in setting protocols and standards of care for echo patients within the service.
· To assist in echocardiography education in team meetings, or during clinical governance meetings.
· To maintain own proficiency in echocardiography and other technical skills and ensure that own mandatory training certificates are current.
· To participate in his/her own Performance Review and actively participate in own continuing professional development.

Qualifications
Essential
1. BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiac Physiology) or equivalent
2. Professional Registration RCCP/ HCPC
3. BSE accreditation

4. Computer literacy

5. Minimum 1 years post BSE accreditation experience
6. Demonstrable expertise in the full range of skills within echocardiography
7. Demonstrable knowledge of Cardiac anatomy.
