Assistant Tax Manager

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Tax Manager to join a modern and respected accountancy practice in Reading. You’ll work with a diverse client portfolio, support advisory projects, and progress toward Tax Manager level within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The Role
As Assistant Tax Manager, you’ll support senior colleagues while managing your own diverse portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing a portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients
* Preparing and reviewing tax returns and computations
* Supporting advisory projects, including CGT, IHT, restructuring, and remuneration planning
* Liaising directly with clients and HMRC
* Conducting research and drafting advisory reports
* Supporting junior team members and reviewing work
* Contributing to internal process improvement and technical development
About You
You’ll be a motivated tax professional with a strong technical foundation and a desire to progress.
You will:
* CTA qualified/part-qualified, or ACA/ACCA with strong tax background
* Experience in personal and/or corporate tax within a UK practice
* Strong communicator with excellent attention to detail
* Confident managing deadlines and balancing competing workloads
* Ambitious, proactive, and eager to progress to Manager level
