Promoting the highest professional standards within the Legal Services team, you’ll ensure that all areas of the Council benefit from expert, relevant and outcome-focused advice. As a senior adviser on legal issues (both for the Council and a number of external public sector clients), you’ll take personal responsibility for more complex and contentious cases, and advise elected members as required. And, as Deputy Monitoring Officer, you’ll help to ensure that effective governance underpins all our decision-making and practice.
Candidates will need a formal legal qualification, further enhanced by substantial post-qualifying experience. You will have a sound appreciation of local government governance and its legislative context.
