AR585 - Laboratory Technician

Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician on behalf of one of our clients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all Ciders, Perries and Wines are tested in a manner that gives accurate and repeatable results. To make liquid NPD samples as requested To monitor results and have a clear understanding of what the data is saying and report the findings.
Shift Pattern: 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am rotating on a weekly basis (including some weekends).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure that there are zero RIDDOR Accidents
Being actively involved in a Health and Safety culture to create a safe and risk free working environment.
Following all Health and Safety requirements and that your work does not put others at risk ensuring that safest procedures are in place
Attending Health and Safety meetings to report findings.
With the team, thoroughly investigating any H&S accidents / incidents identifying actions that can be put in place to prevent reoccurrence
Reporting a minimum of 1 Near Miss/Opportunity for Improvement per month
Promoting and maintaining right first time (RFT) to include making sure that all Blend recipes and specifications are accurate to the best of your knowledge
Maintaining accurate records and updating onto NAV on a timely basis
Maintaining deployment of the the company quality management system (QMS) and other quality / food safety systems within the Process areas
Ensuring that all analytical testing undertaken by yourself complies with the company requirements and that proficiency testing is in place to ensure that testing is repeatable and reproducible.
Production of Blend recipe sheets and carrying out analysis of blends and base ciders and wines as required.
Carrying out calibration of relevant lab equipment as instructed.
Carrying out packaging quality checks, microbiological sampling and testing.
Assessment of Wetlands and water, to include sampling, analysis and reporting.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience of working in an FMCG process environment
Good computer skills and use of Microsoft Office package
Organisation and time management skills
Experience of the cider making process or similar industry
Experience working with in a analytical laboratory
Good level of education (Chemistry A level minimum) with continued professional development
Desirable:
HACCP and Food Safety knowledge
Degree in Chemistry, Science or qualification recognised by the IBD
