Join the Consultant Ecologist role at Arcadis. You would be joining our team of ecologists with extensive experience undertaking ecological surveys and assessments, and providing advice on soil, land use, hydrological and sustainable drainage issues, arboriculture, ecosystem services, natural capital, biodiversity strategies and cultural heritage.

Role description
As a Consultant Ecologist, you will be part of our Environmental team, contributing to a diverse portfolio of ecology schemes for construction and development projects. Your work may include standalone ecology projects and work for internal clients, with exposure to protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise in varied locations.

Role accountabilities
* Coordinate and complete assigned tasks and projects within the Business Unit or project team
* Engage on a portfolio of ecology schemes for construction and development projects
* Produce ecological documents such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) and contribute to biodiversity strategies and related reports
* Assist with licence applications, including developing mitigation and monitoring plans
* Undertake or supervise mitigation and monitoring of licensed works and liaise with statutory authorities
* Participate in training on best practice and survey standards
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in writing PEAs and contributing to EIAs and biodiversity net gain reports
* Understanding of environmental legislation, policy and guidance
* Ability to identify taxa/species associated with broad habitat types using keys and field guides
* Ability to undertake extended Phase 1 habitat surveys
* Ideally hold a survey licence for one or more species
* Commitment to biosecurity and health and safety protocols
* Relevant degree; ideally including secondary degree or accreditation
* Membership of CIEEM at the appropriate level
* Excellent communication skills
* Willingness and ability to travel when necessary
