Job title: BIM Manager

Based from: Remote/Dronfield

Reports to: Technical Manager

Direct reports: BIM/CAD Technicians

The Role

As the BIM Manager you will be responsible for the BIM/CAD team, ensuring quality and compliance of all drawings/models for various clients' projects. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining BIM standards, supporting teams through training and development and acting as the primary liaison for all BIM/CAD-related matters both internally and externally.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Developing and implementing company-wide BIM processes, workflows and internal standards documentation
2. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of BIM trends, standards (e.g. ISO ), and technologies and drive their integration into business operations
3. Ensuring compliance with BIM contractual obligations including BEPs, data exchange protocols (e.g. IFC, COBie) and project-specific requirements
4. Managing the development, maintenance and distribution of BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), Model Production and Delivery Tables (MPDTs) and other project documentation
5. Delivering structured BIM training to both the immediate and wider teams
6. Leading and mentoring the BIM/CAD Technicians, supporting their development and resolving technical challenges
7. Point of escalation for any BIM/CAD queries and issues
8. Collaborating with both internal teams and clients to understand their BIM expectations and ensuring that all project deliverables align with their requirements
9. Overseeing BIM budgets, including management of software licences, training investments and hardware resources to ensure cost efficiency
10. Conducting regular audits of BIM models to ensure quality, accuracy and adherence to internal standards, client standards and industry standards
11. Championing the use of best practices in data management, coordination and model production to ensure consistency and quality across all projects
12. Coordinating BIM activities across multiple projects and disciplines, ensuring compliance with ISO and other relevant standards
13. Overseeing clash detection, model audits, and quality assurance processes

No job description can be entirely comprehensive and the jobholder will be expected to adapt and carry out such other duties as may be required from time to time, on the understanding that they will be within the individual's remit and capability, and consistent with the status and responsibilities of the role within the business.

Person Specification

Essential

14. Previous experience working as a BIM Manager or equivalent position
15. In-depth understanding of ISO and other relevant international/local BIM standards
16. Proven ability to develop and manage BIM execution plans, standards, and company workflows
17. Experience auditing and maintaining high standards of model quality and data accuracy
18. Excellent communication skills including preparing and delivering presentations
19. Good knowledge of MS products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and confident using IT software
20. Excellent attention to detail, sound problem solving skills and analytical thinking with demonstrable experience of delivering action plans to resolve issues and remedy disputes
21. Proficient in BIM-related software (e.g. Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD) and data exchange formats (IFC, COBie)
22. Understanding of Common Data Environments (CDEs) and federated model workflows

Desirable

23. BIM certification or formal qualification
24. Previous experience of working within Fire, Security or Data infrastructure industry
25. Experience using AutoCAD
26. Experience using AutoDesk Construction Cloud

Working Conditions

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an open plan office and at office locations in Gloucester, Dronfield and London. The role requires flexibility in working hours and may involve evenings or early mornings and may be required to spend time away from home from time to time to fulfil the job role. The role will manage their own diary to ensure effective use of time and to support business requirements.

Travel to Europe may be required. This would be agreed in advance and would be occasional. Where possible we endeavour to use video calling for EU business.

Construction site locations involve both inside and outside working environments and the employee will be required to use personal protective equipment provided should meetings take place on sites.

35. Ensure that any Information Technology ‘incidents' are effectively reported and resolved in a timely fashion (internally or externally)
36. Maintain clear desk and screen at all times
37. Compliance to ensure no deliberate breaches in security information and/ or systems
