Head of Digital Enablement - Permanent - Reading/Hybrid (2 days/week in office)
We’re looking for a Head of Digital Enablement to lead the development of a modern, data-driven digital capability within a major infrastructure organisation.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for embedding data, analytics, automation and AI into day-to-day operations to improve performance, efficiency and decision making across the business.
This role sits at the centre of the organisation’s digital transformation—translating digital and data strategy into practical capabilities that deliver measurable operational value.
We’re particularly interested in candidates from asset-intensive infrastructure environments, such as:
* Rail
* Highways
* Utilities
* Energy
* Infrastructure or engineering organisations managing large physical asset estates
These environments share similar challenges around asset data, operational performance, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure resilience.
What you’ll be responsible for
* Lead the digital enablement roadmap, translating enterprise digital and data strategy into deliverable programmes.
* Ensure digital capabilities support operational performance, efficiency and long-term infrastructure management.
* Own enterprise Business Intelligence and Management Information capabilities including dashboards, analytics and self-service reporting.
* Develop advanced analytics to support forecasting, operational insight and risk management.
Data Governance & Maturity
* Establish strong data governance frameworks, standards and controls.
* Lead the organisation’s data maturity journey, building a coordinated enterprise data capability.
Automation & AI
* Drive automation initiatives including RPA and intelligent automation.
* Define and deliver a responsible AI strategy that supports operational efficiency and decision-making.
* Ensure digital capabilities are embedded across operational teams.
* Track measurable value from analytics, automation and digital investments.
Leadership
* Lead and develop a high-performing digital enablement team.
* Promote a culture of data-driven decision making across the organisation.
What we’re looking for
* Senior leadership experience in digital enablement, data, analytics or automation.
* Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks (DAMA, DCAM or similar).
* Proven experience delivering digital transformation in asset-heavy infrastructure environments.
* Strong stakeholder leadership with the ability to influence adoption at executive level.
* Experience delivering analytics, automation or AI initiatives with measurable operational impact.
Experience within rail, highways, utilities, energy, or other regulated infrastructure sectors would be particularly valuable.
