Size Group now seek a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our Country Houses team.

The Role

As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial delivery of prestigious prime residential and luxury construction projects, working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers. This role is ideally suited to someone completing a day‑release apprenticeship, combining academic study with hands‑on, practical experience on live projects.

You will be given structured support, mentoring and exposure across the project lifecycle, from early cost planning through to final account, within a business renowned for exceptional quality, attention to detail and client service.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated trainee to build strong commercial and technical foundations within a high‑end construction environment, working on bespoke projects for discerning private clients.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist with cost planning, budgeting and financial control across luxury residential projects

* Support the preparation of tender documentation, bills of quantities and contract information

* Help with subcontractor procurement, including enquiries, tender comparisons and appointments

* Assist in the preparation of interim valuations, cost reports and final accounts

* Support the management of variations, change control and risk identification

* Work closely with site teams, suppliers and consultants to support delivery of commercial objectives

* Attend project and commercial meetings as appropriate, gaining exposure to stakeholder engagement

* Ensure commercial activities align with contractual requirements, company procedures and best practice

* Maintain accurate records and develop systems to support effective commercial management


About You

To be considered for this role you will need to be:

* Be enrolled on, or about to start, a Quantity Surveying or construction‑related apprenticeship (day‑release)

* Have a genuine interest in prime residential / luxury construction and high‑quality project delivery

* Demonstrate good numerical, analytical and organisational skills with strong attention to detail

* Be eager to learn, proactive and committed to developing a long‑term career in commercial management

* Be a clear and positive communicator, able to work well with colleagues and the wider project team

* Have basic IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)

* Show a professional attitude, strong work ethic and pride in producing high‑quality work
