We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our integrated Mental Health team at HMP Leicester a category B remand men's prison based in the centre of Leicester. The prison currently supports around 408 male patients including local patients on remand.

Clinical hours run Mon - Sun - 1800
Salary
This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to 38,115per annum - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will
1. Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
2. Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed.
3. Assess patients health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge.
4. Assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody so that any appropriate referral can be made.
5. Be responsible for making a clinical judgement with regard to any immediate need and long term treatment.

Qualifications required
13. Qualified Mental Health Nurse with NMC registration
14. Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
15. Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
16. Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
17. Knowledge of evidence based practice, health promotion, NICE guidelines and pharmacology
