Job Description
Following significant recent investment and supported by ambitious growth plans, a leading engineering services provider to the high-technology sectors is seeking to appoint a Laboratory Operations Manager. The business specialises in delivering a comprehensive range of testing services and is now strengthening its leadership team to support continued expansion and operational excellence.
The Role
Overseeing day-to-day operations setting weekly and monthly plans.
Improve processes and identify areas for improvements.
Lead, develop and coach the Lab Technicians and Engineer.
Drive efficiency through process improvement, resource planning, and cost control.
Manages internal resources to ensure that daily, weekly, monthly metrics are met.
Ensure that tests are prepared, performed and released as per quality procedures and customer requirements.
Ensure calibration and maintenance schedule of laboratory equipment is maintained.
Recommend capital investment purchases and introduce new equipment.
Develop long term relationships with customers and key partners.
The Person
Excellent leadership, communication and coaching skills.
Experience in an advanced materials testing environment.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
Experience working in precision engineering (aerospace, automotive, defence, energy, R&D)
Self‑motivated, collaborative, and confident in driving team performance
Hands-on approach with the ability to influence and motivate others
A track record of improving processes and operational performance.
