Medical and Dental Workforce Rota Co-ordinator
As a Rota Co-ordinator, you'll be joining the Centralised Rota Team within the Medical and Dental Workforce department, a vital part of our organisation that also covers Medical & Dental HR, recruitment, appraisal and revalidation, and job planning. Our centralised team manages medical and dental rotas across key specialties, including General Surgery, Urology, Integrated Medicine, and Emergency Medicine.
This role is crucial for maintaining safe staffing levels and supporting high-quality patient care through effective coordination of Consultant, Specialty Doctor, Resident Doctor, and Locally Employed Doctor cover. A solid understanding of doctors' contracts and terms and conditions is essential to ensure rotas align with contractual entitlements and meet service needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a knowledgeable and collaborative team, where your input directly supports the smooth running of clinical services and contributes to patient outcomes. If you're highly organised, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to make a real difference behind the scenes in healthcare, we'd love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
This role requires more than just rota management; it demands a proactive, detail-focused individual who understands the impact of effective planning on clinical safety and service delivery. You'll need to be confident working with data, able to prioritise under pressure, and capable of interpreting doctors' contractual entitlements, including resident doctor T&Cs and specialty-specific arrangements.
You will be the central point of contact for rota-related queries, often working with minimal supervision, so sound judgement, initiative, and problem-solving skills are essential. Your ability to communicate effectively with clinicians, managers, agencies, and colleagues will make you a trusted and reliable member of the team.
Whether reacting to short-notice gaps, monitoring WTD compliance, or supporting performance targets, no two days are the same. If you're looking for a varied, rewarding role where your organisational strengths, accuracy, and resilience are valued, this is your chance to make a lasting impact within a supportive team that encourages your ongoing development and success.
Interviews to take place 12th June 2025.
