The Location:
Established in 2013, Simply Fertility has grown into a leading clinic, providing treatment to NHS and private patients, with approximately 400 fresh and 300 frozen cycles annually. Located near junction 17 of the A12 in Chelmsford, our state-of-the-art laboratory was built in 2017 and is equipped with the latest technology, supporting excellent outcome KPIs. We hold a 5/5 inspection rating from the HFEA.
The Role:
This is a unique opportunity for a Laboratory Manager to lead a team of skilled scientists, ensuring the highest standards of patient care in compliance with national regulations and TFP policies. The role involves managing laboratory services, resource planning, staff training, service development, research, quality management, and participating in group projects and strategy. The PR will oversee all licensed activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, staff development, and optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform a full range of clinical procedures, including ICSI, vitrification, and PGT.
* Communicate treatment options and results to patients.
* Manage quality assurance, audits, document control, and non-compliance issues.
* Handle imports/exports, donor recruitment, and storage of gametes/embryos.
* Oversee resource management, including staffing, consumables, and equipment.
* Manage operational workflows and staff rotas.
* Monitor KPIs and implement improvements.
* Train, induct, and appraise junior staff.
* Ensure regulatory compliance.
* Contribute to group-wide projects and strategic planning.
Person Responsible:
* Ensure staff are adequately trained.
* Maintain inspection readiness and cooperate with regulatory inspections.
* Ensure timely submission of paperwork, fees, and data to the HFEA.
* Demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
* Handle incidents effectively and take responsibility for issues.
* Balance operational, strategic, and regulatory tasks with patient safety in mind.
* Identify and implement improvements effectively.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree in Life Sciences, preferably MSc or PhD.
* HCPC Registered.
* At least 6 years of clinical experience, including senior/management roles.
* Completion of HFEA entry requirements for PR or willingness to complete before start.
* Strong leadership and quality management skills.
* In-depth knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks.
* Training in all clinical laboratory procedures, including biopsy (preferred).
* Excellent time management, resilience, and communication skills.
* Motivated with the ability to inspire others.
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Hours: 37.5 hours/week, with weekend work (~1:4, paid with TOIL/overtime), and on-call (~1:4, paid additional daily rate)
