Trainee Accountant - Belfast MCS Group is delighted to be partnering with a well established small/mid-tier Accountancy Practice based in Belfast, looking to recruit for a Trainee Accountant on a full time, permanent basis. The Company: A growing Belfast-based Practice is seeking a Trainee Accountant to support continued expansion. The role involves working with a portfolio of clients processing VAT returns, Bank reconciliations and small Accounts Preparation as you progress. The team values development, a strong work/life balance, and operates a no-overtime culture with offices closing at 1pm every Friday. Job Duties of the Trainee Accountant Include: Regularly communicate with clients by phone, email and in person. Prepare accounts for smaller clients and support the completion of corporation and personal tax returns. Handle bookkeeping tasks and draft VAT returns. Opportunity to assist with transactional work, including M&A and complex tax matters. Provide ad hoc project support across wider business areas. What You Need to be the Successful Trainee Accountant? GCSE/A-level/Degree (preferably in a numerate or analytical discipline). Strong numerical capability with sound analytical and critical-thinking skills. Good IT proficiency, particularly in MS Office and Excel. Confident communicator with the ability to engage clearly with clients and colleagues. Prior experience in an accountancy practice is highly desirable. Previous experience doing VAT / bookkeeping (practice or industry) is desirable. What's in it for you?
