Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Gloucestershire Mental Health Support Team for the recruitment of qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP) or Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners. The role is full‑time, based in Gloucestershire, and involves delivering evidence‑based early interventions for children and young people in educational settings and working across education and health sectors.
Responsibilities
 * Deliver evidence‑based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems in education settings.
 * Support children and young people with more severe problems to access specialist services quickly.
 * Identify and manage mental health and wellbeing issues in schools, providing guidance to staff and parents/carers.
 * Facilitate staff development to increase school capacity for mental health support.
 * Collaborate with local and national partners to improve access to specialist services.
 * Maintain accurate records, risk assessments and comply with safeguarding protocols.
 * Travel within localities as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
 * Completion of the HEE‑commissioned 1‑yr Educator Mental Health Practitioner course, or equivalent Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner or Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner course.
 * Postgraduate Diploma (or higher) in Psychological Therapies Practice or Mental Health Practice in Education Settings.
Experience & Skills
 * Experience working with children and young people and their families.
 * Experience liaising with agencies, schools and health professionals.
 * Desirable: further relevant degree, teaching qualification, Youth Mental Health First Aid training.
Contract & Salary
Standard Contract: Permanent, full‑time. Pay Band 5: £31,049 to £37,796 per annum.
Location
Gloucester, GL1 1LY (Rikenel area).
