Avondale is a vegetation management and agricultural contractors working 24/7 for clients across a range of sectors including highways, utilities, rail, construction, and local authorities. We are innovative by nature and our mechanised vegetation solutions are leading the way in vegetation management. Due to recent contract wins we are now looking to expand our team.
About the Job
This is a full-time permanent role; with a growing client base we can offer a stable position with plenty of opportunities to develop your skills. As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will be working outside as part of our vegetation management team, keeping roads, rails, and grounds safe and tidy for all their users:
* ·You'll be carrying out a range of duties, and with the right training this will include brush cutting, chipping, tree and shrub planting, chainsaw works on ground, knapsack spraying, general vegetation and site clearance and plant operation.
* You'll make sure our machinery and vehicles are in great working order by carrying out daily checks and ensuring they are always left in a clean and tidy state.
* You'll help the teams safely get to and from site by sharing the driving of our company vehicles.
* You'll attend call-outs, where needed to help to make safe rail or road areas for our clients.
About You
It would be great if you did have experience in a similar role such as grounds maintenance, but this isn't essential.
What you do need is, a can-do attitude, willingness to learn, flexibility, a team player, and always 100% safety conscious. We give full training for the right candidates, and we continue to develop our team throughout their time with us.
Because we are a 24/7 operation, you will need to be flexible on shift times; night shifts, early mornings and weekend working do come as part of the role. You will also need to be happy working outside; we work across all seasons and weather conditions.
For this role, a full UK driving license is ESSENTIAL (ideally with own transport to get to and from the depot).
Desirable skill but not essential – experience in using agricultural/ large plant machinery
Due to the nature of our work, you will need to pass a medical and drugs and alcohol screening (medical outcome MUST be level 1)
