Surveyor - Planned Works
Location: West Bridgford, Nottingham
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per year + Car Allowance + Fuel card
We're seeking a highly skilled Surveyor with experience in planned works to take full commercial and technical ownership of projects, ensuring costs are controlled, value is maximised, and contracts are delivered to the highest standard. Key Responsibilities:
* Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders.
* Work extensively with Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and Schedule of Rates (SOR) to price works.
* Check contract/tender documentation, identifying and mitigating risks.
* Support Health & Safety compliance within tenders and contracts.
* Develop method statements and maintain a strong network of subcontractor and supplier contacts.
* Set production targets, monitor financial progress, and ensure commercial reporting is accurate.
* Record, agree, and recover variations and extras with clients.
* Submit applications for payment on time and follow up on invoices to ensure prompt payment.
* Approve subcontractor payments and manage financial reporting, CVRs, and cash collection.
* Provide commercial assurance through forecasting, project reviews, and risk identification.
* Contribute to branch meetings, pre-tender submissions, and strategic decision-making.
* Drive improvements in underperforming contracts and focus on margin delivery.

Skills & Experience Required:
* Professional qualification in surveying or equivalent experience.
* Full UK Driving Licence and CSCS Card (Manager/Professional).
* Proven experience in planned works surveying or estimating within construction.
* Strong understanding of financial and contractual controls.
* Experience with both BOQ and SOR contracts.
* Background in social housing works.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing direct and subcontract labour.
* Strong IT proficiency, particularly in Excel.
* Excellent organisational, time management, and communication skills.
