The Role
The successful candidate will provide strategic and academic leadership to the English department, overseeing the delivery of a rich and engaging curriculum across Key Stages 3 5. This is a key leadership position with responsibility for driving excellence in teaching and learning, managing a team of enthusiastic teachers, and nurturing a passion for literature and language across the school.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement
* Teach English across Key Stages 3 5, including GCSE and A-Level
* Oversee curriculum development, assessment, and departmental strategy
* Mentor and support the professional growth of team members
* Promote innovative and engaging approaches to English teaching
* Organise and support extracurricular activities such as book clubs, writing competitions, and theatre trips
* Contribute to the wider life of the school, including pastoral responsibilities and whole-school initiatives

The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Hold a relevant degree and UK teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS or equivalent)
* Have significant experience teaching English across Key Stages 3 5, including A-Level
* Demonstrate strong leadership skills and previous experience managing or contributing to a department
* Be an excellent classroom practitioner with a proven record of academic success
* Be passionate about literature, language, and inspiring a love of learning
* Have the ability to foster a collaborative and innovative team culture
