The Role As a Programme Manager you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for the effective management delivery of one or more Programme(s) within the UK Intelligence Sector for defence and national security customers. In addition, you will be expected to develop and grow customer relationships, lead major bids, support complex bids, secure associated follow-on sales and successfully contribute to the overall strategy and business targets. Day-to-day, you’ll: Develop and maintain positive engagement with programme customers, partners and suppliers. Delivery of the Programme outcomes, to agreed baseline (customer satisfaction, time, cost, quality, cash and sales). Ensure programme members operate in line with the Operating Framework and functional competency management requirements; and have appropriate personal objectives recorded in the QinetiQ performance management system. Resolve conflicts (including prioritisation calls) within the programme and collaborating across QinetiQ. Lead the embedding of improvement in the QinetiQ project and programme management function, as agreed with IDT Leads and the Performance Excellence team. Maintain forecasts (both financial and resource demand signal) for sales and delivery which reflects the up-to-date expectations for the work. Application of governance requirements (including lifecycle, project and independent reviews as appropriate) for foundation sales and delivery work. Report progress on all accountabilities to Business Lead (or their delegate). Whilst based at our Malvern site, travel to the customer location will be required. The role will be delivered by working 4-5 days at a QinetiQ or the customer’s location. Essential experience of the Programme Manager: Experience leading a business, projects, programmes, portfolios or P3 function; successfully delivering complex programmes. Experience leading programmes to numerous customers. Proven track record in delivering complex engineering projects, dealing with demanding timescales, uncertainty and risk. Able to manage multiple stakeholders, PMs and subcontractors simultaneously. Being able to establish the vision and direction for the programme to influence and align others towards this common purpose and empower and inspire people to achieve success. Change Management experience being able to develop and enact a structured approach to organisational change in support of QinetiQ’s vision, enrolling the impacted people to embrace the changes required to deliver the desired benefits. Qualifications of the Programme Manager: APM Qualfied, or a similar professional accreditation. Demonstrable capability to International Project Management Association Level A.
