Job Title:
Learning Disabilities Support Worker

Team Leader / Service Manager
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centered care and support to individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism or other related diagnosis, enabling them to achieve their goals, develop independence, and enjoy a fulfilling life within the community or residential setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Support & Care:
* Assist individuals with daily living skills, such as personal care, meal preparation, and medication (where required).
* Promote independence, dignity, and choice in all aspects of support.
* Support people to achieve their individual goals, aspirations, and outcomes as agreed in their care plans.
* Community Engagement:
* Encourage and assist with participation in social, leisure, educational, and work activities, both in and outside the home.
* Support individuals to build and maintain relationships with family, friends, and the wider community.
* Communication:
* Use a variety of communication techniques tailored to the person's needs (e.g., Makaton, PECS, visual aids).
* Foster open, respectful, and positive communication with individuals, colleagues, families, and professionals.
* Health & Safety:
* Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control procedures.
* Contribute to risk assessments and follow support plans to ensure a safe environment.
* Record Keeping:
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and contribute to regular reviews of care and support plans.
* Report any concerns or significant changes in needs or behaviour promptly.
* Teamwork:
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, attend team meetings, and contribute to a positive team culture.
* Participate in training and development opportunities.
Role Specification
Essential:
* Genuine passion for supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
* Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work flexibly (including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins if required).
* Willingness to undertake training (including mandatory and specialist courses).
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a similar role or care environment.
* Knowledge of autism, learning disabilities, and person-centred care.
* NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards this).

Pay: £12.90 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 48 per week
