The Role This is a specialist position for a dedicated Social Worker to join Cambridgeshire’s Children in Care service. You will be responsible for providing stable, high-quality advocacy and support for children throughout their journey in care and into the adoption process. This role is designed for practitioners who understand the nuances of permanence and are committed to achieving long-term positive outcomes for children and young people.
Requirements and Experience

Recent Specialism: You must have held a dedicated Children in Care (CIC) role within the last five years.

Adoption Knowledge: Direct experience working with adoption processes and permanence planning is essential.
*
Travel Flexibility: Due to the nature of the caseload, you must be prepared for regular local travel and occasional longer-distance journeys to visit children in out-of-county placements.
*
Professional Status: Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
Key Responsibilities

Managing a complex caseload focusing on children in care and those transitioning toward adoption.

Conducting robust assessments and reviews to ensure the child’s voice is central to every decision.

Collaborating with foster carers, adoptive parents, and multi-agency partners to ensure placement stability.

Preparing detailed court reports and attending hearings where necessary.
