The Council’s Finance Department provides a range of effective, efficient, and high-quality professional services supporting Members, managers, staff, services, schools, and external partners in achieving the Council’s objectives.
The department is seeking to appoint a Systems Project Officer to lead the development, administration, and maintenance of the Council’s financial systems, aligning with corporate and user needs. The role involves undertaking system developments related to the Council’s core finance and reporting systems, as well as conducting ad hoc research, advice, and development projects as directed.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
* Leading system development initiatives to meet legislative, corporate, and end-user requirements.
* Creating and enhancing a comprehensive suite of financial reports to support the finance section.
* Supporting the Systems Administrator in implementing, testing, and rolling out new software and upgrades.
* Undertaking specific development projects as required by the Systems Administrator.
* Assisting in developing and implementing system functionalities and improvements to increase effectiveness and meet user requirements.
* Supporting the development of Business Continuity plans for financial systems.
* Managing day-to-day system administration tasks, including user access management, data archiving, and data extracts for ad hoc requests.
* Maintaining and updating end-user manuals in line with system updates.
* Training users on new tools and changes to existing tools.
* Deputising for the Systems Administrator and/or Accounting Systems Manager on specific projects and developments.
Protecting children, young people, or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
A Basic criminal records check via the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) and a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check are required for this post.
The council’s Hybrid Working Policy applies, establishing flexible working hours between home and office.
