Role Description
Role involves working as a support worker in zero-hours roles in the Salisbury area, with the potential to commute. Responsibilities include providing family contact supervision, parenting work, and welfare visits in line with safeguarding and care plans.
Responsibilities
* Family Contact Supervision: supervise and support contact sessions between children and family members in line with care plans; ensure a safe, neutral, and child-focused environment; observe and record interactions; prepare clear, factual reports for court proceedings or case reviews; work with social workers, guardians, and other professionals; support children before, during, and after sessions; manage challenging behaviours and de-escalate when needed; uphold confidentiality and safeguarding procedures; assist in planning and transportation if required.
* Parenting Work: provide in-home parenting support to families with newborns or young children; support safe routines for feeding, sleeping, and infant care; model positive parenting techniques; monitor well-being; work with families to build confidence and resilience; observe and report safeguarding concerns; collaborate with health visitors and other professionals; maintain detailed records; promote a nurturing home environment.
* Welfare Visits: conduct regular home welfare visits to assess the well-being of children and families; build trusting relationships; identify safeguarding concerns and report them; coordinate with schools, social workers, and other professionals; maintain confidential records and produce timely reports.
Person Specification / Qualifications
* Satisfactory clearance of an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS, formerly CRB)
* Proof of right to work in the UK
* Awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and the needs of children, families, and welfare services
* Good report writing and English language skills
* Demonstrate professionalism
* Ability to travel to different locations; driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred but not essential
* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
* Previous experience is advantageous but not essential as full training will be given
