Reporting to the Pumps Manager, the Lead Specialist - Pumps is a Nuclear and Auxiliary Pumps domain technical specialist. The successful candidate will bring expertise inpump design, performance, reliability, and safety, with a proven track record of delivering solutions in complex, regulated environments. They will apply their expertise to lead complex engineering, technology, and safety challenges across the pump's domain. They will be able to think holistically to provide strategic problem-solving and translate business objectives into actionable strategies. They will use their experience and abilities to steer and influence colleagues across pumps design, product selection displaying a positive and collaborative leadership style. The ideal candidate for this role will be a leading pump professional with extensive experience in the nuclear pumps industry and wider pump industries. The candidate will be required to operate in iterative and often ambiguous parts of the programme applying sound engineering judgement and structured problem-solving. The responsibilities of the Lead Specialist: Provide expert guidance the Pumps team, supporting the development of strategy, interfaces and the forward work programme for the Pumps area. Capture and share technical knowledge across the pumps team, mentoring colleagues to navigate complexity and align technical delivery with organisational objectives. Coordinate cross-functional integration between Design and supporting disciplines (Systems, Performance, Analysis, Materials) to address interdependent challenges. Lead resolution of technical challenges within the team, developing targeted strategies to address localised issues. Support the development and application of robust quality assurance processes aligned with nuclear industry standards for engineering methods and tools. Deliver high-quality outcomes on time and within budget, underpinned by strong stakeholder engagement and effective communication. Act as a domain steward, staying ahead of industry developments, critically assessing emerging knowledge, sharing insights, and reporting on their strategic impact to the business.
