Responsibilities
* Understand and implement the principle of fire science on real projects via the engineering process (goals, objectives, building appraisal and hazards, design fire scenarios etc).
* Understand the Total Fire Safety concept: from client brief, through design and construction; taking account of the socio‑technical context, seeking to pre‑empt fire safety issues common at different stages of a project, so that the end result delivers on the client brief.
* Investigate and apply appropriate legislation and design guidance for use on your projects.
* Develop and implement fire strategies in collaboration with the design team and relevant stakeholders.
* Support individuals working towards Chartered Engineer status or motivated to achieve it.
Qualifications
* Qualification in a relevant subject (fire engineering, other types of engineering, or architecture related).
* Experience in a fire engineering consultancy or similar environment.
* Knowledge of applicable legislation and guidance used in the UK, and awareness of the new regulatory regime.
* Excellent report writing and communication skills – be collaborative, creative and engaging.
* Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, working to tight deadlines and juggling multiple demands and deliverables.
* Proactivity in resolving issues, creating solutions, relying on others as required for assistance and experience.
