We are seeing an experienced Applications Engineer who will be responsible for the design and development of Mechanical components that meets the customers technical requirements. This is an opportunity to provide your technical expertise to the customer to provide high quality and cost-efficient product solutions. Key Responsibilities will include: Engage with clients, sales teams, and project managers to gather and translate technical requirements into actionable design plans. Provide technical expertise and advice to customers on specifications of product. Design and model mechanical systems using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), then develop detailed technical drawings for prototypes or production. Conduct simulations and analysis (e.g., FEA, thermal, structural) to validate design performance and reliability. Support prototype development and perform testing to verify functionality and compliance. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and project teams to drive project success. Provide technical support for feasibility studies, cost estimates, and quotations. Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for components selection, pricing, and sourcing. Continuously refine design methodologies for improved quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required: Masters Degree, First Class or Upper Second Class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Recent Proven experience working as an Applications Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer or Sales Engineer. Proficiency in CAD Software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. An analytical approach to problem solving coupled with the ability to manage multiple projects at once. Excellent communications skills coupled with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Whilst this role is predominantly site based in Plymouth, the successful candidate must be willing to travel both in the UK and Internationally for this role as and when required.
