The Boeing Portal in Fleet, Hampshire houses the Strategic Experimentation & Analysis team, whose role is to conduct Operational Analysis, Simulation, and Modelling in support of Boeing UK and Europe.
The purpose of the role is to work within an established team of Operational Analysts with experience in the Air, Maritime, Land, Cyber, and Space domains, to deliver independent, focused, and defensible analysis on behalf of European governments and National Defence requirements. The analysis work undertaken within the Boeing Portal focuses on providing hard quantitative evidence to support business cases for high-level decisions across a broad portfolio of activities.
Candidates must have a mathematical background and be comfortable providing empirical evidence in the Defence and Security domains. The successful candidate should have a broad background in Operational Analysis or Statistics tools and techniques, including Multi-criteria Decision Analysis, Discrete Event Simulation, Gap Analysis, Regression Analysis, and Forecasting. They should also have the motivation and confidence to work directly with customers and Boeing colleagues.
Typical Focus Areas:
* Market Analysis: Reviewing potential military uses of Boeing products through quantitative means to support the growth of Boeing’s business in new and existing markets.
* Force Structures Analysis: Using a range of Operational Research techniques to develop understanding of future defence requirements, identify capability gaps, and analyze potential solutions.
* Platform Level Assessment: Applying quantitative techniques to support platform option selection, ensuring analysis is robust and independent for use in external reports and business cases.
* Cost Analysis: Conducting high-level cost comparisons of platform solutions to enable cost-capability trade studies.
* Use of Operational Research: Utilizing statistics and management science techniques to provide decision support, including forecasting and optimization tools integrated into Discrete Event Simulations.
* Operational Research: Report writing and integrating analysis data into customer business cases. A degree in a Mathematical or Science subject is preferred, with an understanding of analysis requirements within the defence sector.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Learn and apply project management best practices to ensure timely, within-budget completion of analysis tasks.
* Support stakeholder management meetings and seminars, utilizing Operational Research concepts.
* Assist in preparing and delivering briefings to internal and external customers.
* Represent Boeing at internal and external events and conferences.
Desirable Experience:
* Knowledge or interest in UK military and security domains across strategic and tactical levels.
* Interest in UK’s Other Government Departments.
* Graphic or media skills for presentation and communication purposes.
