Trustee About Us: William Harding s Charity was established in 1719 to support young people in education. In the 21st century this support is continued with funding for school trips, school uniforms and annual financial and maintenance grants to young people at university or in higher education. It also makes grants to schools and educational establishments, sports clubs, arts societies, community projects and organisations working for the residents of Aylesbury. In addition, we have 35 alms houses for older residents across the town. The Role: We are looking for a Trustee to join our trustee board to continue with this work. Our trustees bring a wide variety of skills and experience across education, business and finance, property, local government, the voluntary sector and adult and social care. We aim to strengthen our collective expertise by appointing a trustee with experience and knowledge in any of these areas and with a close association with Aylesbury. At the moment our meetings are held in Aylesbury in the morning, once a month usually lasting up to two hours; we meet for 10 months of the year. Papers are sent out online beforehand and require 1-2 hours of reading in preparation for the monthly meeting. What are we looking for? We are looking for someone willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role of trustee, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board. Ideally, you will have the following personal skills and qualities: A passion for our cause. Willingness and ability to understand and accept responsibility and liability as a trustee and to act in the best interest of the organisation. Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good independent judgement and work effectively as a board member.
