Job Title: Group Coordinator (Forest of Dean)

Contract Type: Maternity Cover (Fixed Term Contract)

Hours of work: 20 hours per week (term time only)

Salary: Full time: £27,711 (Pro rata £12,812)

Responsible to: Senior Group Coordinator

Start Date: ASAP, depending on candidate availability- 20th July 2026 with a view to extend

Home-Start North and West Gloucestershire Office: Winchcombe, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Delivery locations: Various sites across the Forest of Dean/ Home-based

Job Description

· To plan and run peer support groups, ensuring a programme of relevant activities is planned, resourced, risk assessed and documented.

· To build and maintain strong links and partnership working with local agencies to maintain overview of local needs and resources.

· To maintain high standards of practice in supporting families affected by mental health challenges within the Home-Start model.

· To ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of the scheme's work.

· To contribute to the effective day to day operation of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start Memorandum & Articles of Association, Home-Start's Standards & Methods of Practice, Home-Start Agreement and Quality Assurance Standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Working collaboratively with other members of staff to ensure the development, and future direction of the group work programme.

· Receiving family group referrals from the Senior group coordinator.

· Planning, running and evaluating group sessions.

· Supporting peer support networks through the groups.

· Signposting families to appropriate support outside of the group setting when necessary.

· Ensuring appropriate liaison with referrers and other professionals.

· Networking within the community. Attending key events and meetings on behalf of HSNWG

· To maintain confidentiality throughout contact with the families.

· Implementing good safeguarding practice in all areas of work and undertaking designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children's welfare.

Requirements / Skills & Qualifications

· Must-haves: NVQ level 3 (or above). Experience of Working with Children and Families.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office.

Confident to engage and communicate in person, by telephone and via email with families, professionals and referring agencies.

Efficient in recording information in an accurate manner.

· Desirable: Knowledge of Home-Start's ethos. Experience in providing supervision and support to volunteers. Previous experiences of delivering training and delivering groups/ play sessions.

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Contract length: 10 months

Pay: Up to £27,711.00 per year
