Key Responsibilities
* Managing health, safety & wellbeing, demonstrating best practice and ensuring your team work in line with our guidance.

* Building effective relationships, working closely with area and national teams.

The Team
The team has a diverse range of expertise which they use to both protect the environment and support nature recovery. They are highly motivated and are passionate about the work they do. You will be joining a friendly and supportive leadership team within the Water, Land and Biodiversity Operations Department, who lead together in delivering integrated outcomes for the environment.
Experience / Skills Required
* Experience of leading and motivating teams and planning and prioritising work to achieve objectives.
* Proven ability to lead, inspire and develop a team.
* Experience of working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
* An ability to prioritise, make decisions and provide clear direction to the team so that the biggest risks are managed.
* Evidence of building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external customers.
* A desire to participate in our incident‑ready culture, ensuring the team is prepared to respond to incidents and plays its part in the wider Area response to incidents.
* Experience of managing complex budgets and income streams.
* Some background in environmental sciences / geography welcomed, but not essential.

Interviews are planned for early December, which will be held face to face at our Newcastle Office.
The base location for this role is Newcastle or Darlington (Newcastle preferred) but we welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies, including job share and some working from home is an option. Everyone starting a new role will be welcomed into the team and given all the training and support needed. As part of your comprehensive induction, you will also be provided with all the equipment required for your role.

It would be anticipated that this role would require some travel, principally within the North East, with some very occasional travel farther afield within England.
