Westbourne Medical Centre is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Practice as an Operational Manager. We are a small and friendly team, seeking someone with strong management skills, including experience in project management, staff management, and CQC compliance. GP Practice experience is preferred but not essential. We offer flexible working hours, negotiable between 30 and 37.5 hours.
Main duties of the job
The main duties are detailed in the attached job description but primarily involve operational and project management, ensuring CQC compliance, HR management, IT management, and involvement in the PCN.

Westbourne Medical Centre serves approximately 5,500 patients and is located in North Ormesby Health Village. Our team includes 2 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, senior management support, a Finance Manager, Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse, HCAs, and reception and administrative staff. We are part of Greater Middlesbrough PCN.
Job responsibilities
Human resources:
* Oversee recruitment and retention of staff with Senior Manager support
* Maintain personnel records, including DBS checks, absenteeism, leave, and training records
* Implement mandatory and personal development training
* Conduct induction training for new staff
* Provide line management, including 1:1s, team meetings, and appraisals
* Liaise with Senior Manager on performance or disciplinary issues
Organisational:
* Manage daily operations, ensuring efficient systems and processes
* Collaborate with Senior Manager on new processes and contract changes
* Review and update the practice continuity plan
* Create and maintain practice policies and ensure reviews are completed
* Attend meetings, prepare agendas, and distribute minutes
* Oversee QOF targets and workforce planning, including rotas
* Ensure premises are maintained, cleaned, and secure
* Handle significant events, audits, and actions
* Ensure compliance with CQC regulations
* Engage with PCN and represent the practice at meetings
Patient services:
* Develop and manage patient services strategically
* Ensure service delivery aligns with guidelines and NHS obligations
* Monitor practice performance and manage complaints
* Support the Patient Participation Group
Information Technology:
* Maintain and develop IT systems and encourage their use
* Manage primary care IT developments and liaise with ICB
* Maintain the practice website
* Develop data capture and reporting procedures
* Collect statistics, prepare reports, and conduct research
* Maintain confidentiality of information
Quality:
* Lead quality improvement initiatives
* Monitor performance and manage change
* Assess demand and capacity, supporting necessary changes
* Ensure clinical governance compliance
* Reflect on team activities and suggest improvements
* Collaborate with other agencies to meet patient needs
* Manage own workload and resources effectively
Confidentiality:
* Ensure data confidentiality and compliance with relevant legislation
