Senior Social Worker - Children in Care Service
Wakefield Children in Care Service is seeking an experienced and dedicated Locum Senior Social Worker to join our committed and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people who are looked after or subject to care proceedings.
As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality safeguarding and care planning, ensuring children receive the stability, protection, and support they need to thrive.

Responsibilities:
* Hold responsibility for a caseload of looked after children and children subject to care proceedings
* Undertake statutory duties in line with the Children Act 1989 and associated legislation
* Develop and implement effective care plans promoting stability, permanence, and positive outcomes
* Work collaboratively with families, carers, and partner agencies
* Prepare high-quality, analytical reports for court
* Attend court hearings and contribute to decision-making processes
* Promote a child-centred, strengths-based approach to practice
To be considered for the role, ideally you will have:
* Diploma/Degree in Social Work
* Social Work England registration
* Significant experience within Children in Care/Looked After Children services
* Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding frameworks
* Experience of court work and report writing
* Excellent assessment, planning, and analytical skills
* Ability to work confidently with complex cases
