A vacancy at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship as a healthcare assistant in the Diabetes & Endocrinology department of Mattishall Ward. The role supports patients, equipment, and the clinical team, and is part of a 14‑month apprenticeship programme.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver care and carry out duties as specified within the Trust’s approved core task list for Healthcare Assistants.
2. Report to the Registered Nurse about any patient who gives cause for concern or any observed changes in the patient’s condition.
3. Respond appropriately to clinical emergencies, ensuring the patient receives timely care.
4. Accurately document all care delivered to patients, countersigned by a Registered Nurse, while maintaining confidentiality.
5. Assist in preparing patients and equipment for treatment, investigations or procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse.
6. Participate in the admission process under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
7. Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised personal nursing care.
8. Keep the clinical area clean and tidy, maintaining a safe environment (cleaning beds, lockers, oxygen and suction in the patient area after discharge and in preparation for admission).
9. Within 12 weeks of commencement complete the National Care Certificate and specified Trust competencies.
10. Achieve and maintain levels of competency as assessed in the Care certificate and Trust competencies.
11. Report all care that has been given to patients within the team to a Registered Nurse.
Eligibility Criteria
* Aged 16 or over.
* Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three consecutive years.
* No qualification in a similar subject at the same level or above.
* Not in any form of formal government‑funded education upon start of the apprenticeship.
Qualifications and Skills Required
* Good general standard of education.
* At least 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above (or equivalent).
* Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Good IT skills.

Additional Information
