Job Description
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Data Protection Manager in the delivery of the Group’s data protection compliance framework.
* Act as a point of contact for internal teams, providing clear and practical advice on data protection matters.
* Assist with responding to data subject rights requests (including access, erasure, objection, and restriction).
* Support the handling, investigation and documentation of personal data breaches, working with stakeholders across the business.
* Maintain data protection records, including RoPAs, DPIAs, LIAs and other governance documentation.
* Review and advise on data protection clauses in contracts, data processing agreements and supplier arrangements.
* Support privacy impact assessments for new projects, products and systems.
* Assist with training and awareness initiatives across the Group.
* Monitor regulatory developments and contribute to policy updates and continuous improvement activities.
* Provide administrative support to the Data Protection team where required.
Qualifications
About You
* Experience working in a data protection, privacy, compliance or governance role (in-house or consultancy).
* Strong understanding of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR.
* Ability to interpret complex requirements and deliver practical, business-friendly advice.
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Comfortable managing small projects and multiple tasks.
* Strong attention to detail and high professional standards.
* Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
* A positive, proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
Desirable
* ICO/DPA-related training or certification (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, BCS).
* Experience within a retail or fast-paced commercial environment.
* Familiarity with ISO 27001 and data governance frameworks
* Understanding of privacy in emerging technologies (e.g., AI, biometrics)
