Wax for Life includes re-waxing and repairs (first introduced in 1921) and Barbour Re-Loved an upcycling circularity initiative. Each year over 70,000 wax garments are sent back to Barbour globally to be repaired, rewaxed or altered.
Position Overview:
We are currently looking for an energetic, driven and delivery orientated IT lead to take responsibility for the leadership of our Global Business Systems & Integration teams. Reporting to the Director of Finance and IT, the role will be a critical part of the Senior IT leadership across the business and will lead all aspects of Business Systems & Integration across the globe and deliverables that meets the fast paced, ambitious digital growth plans of the company, and enables the business to deliver on our five-year plan and beyond.
With responsibility for Global Business Systems & Integration at J Barbour & Sons, this role will be instrumental in structuring and leading the delivery of ongoing IT services alongside an expansive program of change and digital enhancement. The role will be the key IT point of contact regarding and business partnering for managers across the group in the UK, USA, and Germany as well as the APAC region.
Leading the IT organisation, maintaining and developing the positive working culture, being comfortable in the detail technically trouble shooting, building a strategic investment proposal, and proactively managing suppliers and services delivered to the business. Ultimately, being a central voice in the formation and continual renewal of both the tactical and strategic direction and vision for the IT function, complementing fully the Barbour business vision, mission, and values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* To function as a key business partner to the Senior Management Team of the business across all IT matters, providing pragmatic, insightful inputs, and solutions to business requirements.
* Work closely with the Head of IT Business Infrastructure & Operations to create a positive IT culture in the team and beyond and deliver all key business requirements.
* Manage priorities, resourcing levels and resource allocation, in order to maximise IT project throughput and delivery of agreed solutions to the business.
* Proactively manage, coach, and develop the IT organisation at every level.
* Ensure KPIs and effective management structures and procedures are in place to ensure IT function is providing excellent and continually improving customer service.
* Manage the IT budget, including forecasting for investment, and vendor management.
* Expand and refine the adoption of core components of the agile delivery methodology.
* Maintaining and developing third party supplier relations, including the negotiation and management of contracts and licensing and service levels.
* Willing and able to problem solve, deep dive and analyse business process, systems and solutions issues to work collaboratively with all levels of the business and IT team to design solutions focussed on results.
* Responsible to work with IT leadership team to ensure cohesion, common direction and key objectives are delivered in full with excellence.
* Hold regular meetings and performance reviews.
* Maintaining and improving IT aspects of business continuity.
* Provide guidance and assistance to the business to define and plan IT enabled transformation and process improvement opportunities.
* Responsible for wide scale enhancement of business user adoption of data usage, digital solutions and key contributor for digital transformation program.
Skills and Experience:
* Hold bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
* Experience in senior IT leadership roles
* Multiple years of experience managing external service providers to close SLAs and deliverables
* Sector experience (Fashion / Lifestyle) is desirable but not essential
* Experience in a brand led, consumer focused company is also desirable
* Strong commercial awareness: able to fully understand the drivers for business performance and where IT can contribute
* Always begins with the end in mind – results orientated and pragmatic
* Service orientated – sees IT as a function that enables the business to deliver
* Ability to operate and improve cross functional team working at senior levels
* Extensive people management experience, managing a broad team of various levels and capabilities
* Experience of delivering businesses transformation through the adoption of innovative technologies and better use of data
* IT strategy development and implementation
* Experience of identifying and implementing new systems, policies, processes and technologies increasing automation, simplicity and efficiency
* Experience in a matrix organisation and managing multiple stakeholders
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Developing and coaching high performing and high potential team members to excellent standard
* Prioritising, decision making, organising workloads and delivery priorities
* Ability to contribute and lead a harmonious team working environment
* Able to work well in a busy environment and remain calm under pressure
* Ability to challenge conventional methodology and deliver new ways of working in a culture of continuous improvement.

* Experience and understanding of IT project management methodologies (waterfall, agile, scrum)
