About the Role
The Centre for Contemporary Coronial Law at the University of Greater Manchester is seeking to appoint a dynamic and committed Lecturer in Coronial Law to join our expanding academic team. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality teaching, research, and knowledge exchange within the specialist field of coronial law and related areas, including inquests, death investigation systems, medico-legal processes, and public law.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and workshops in Coronial Law and Investigation of Death.
* Develop new teaching materials, module content, and assessment strategies.
* Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.
* Engage in high-quality research leading to publication in reputable academic journals.
* Contribute to the Centre’s research themes and participate in grant‑funding opportunities.
* Undertake personal tutoring and academic support for students.
* Engage with professional bodies and coroners’ courts to enhance teaching and impact.
* Participate in departmental and university-wide administrative duties.
Essential Criteria
* A PhD (or near completion) in Law or a related field.
* Demonstrated expertise or professional experience within the coronial system or medico‑legal investigation.
* Evidence of high‑quality teaching or potential for excellent teaching.
* A developing research profile with publications or strong potential for publication.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience working with coroners’ courts, public inquiries, or related legal practice.
* A teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one.
* Evidence of research impact or policy engagement.
* Experience supervising student research projects.
