This isan exciting opportunity to influence the direction of Hill ViewSchool to further improve the lives of some of the most vulnerablechildren and young people in South Somerset. Hill View School is aspecial school providing education for 120 learners aged 5 16 years(mixed) with Social and Emotional Mental Health and/or SpeechLanguage and Communication Needs as the identified primary need.The school situated in Martock is currently in the preopening phasewith an opening date of September 2024. The school will open withan intake of 60 learners (initially Years 1 to 9 from Sept 2024)growing over 3 years to a full capacity of 120learners.
TheRole
As an Assistant Head Teacherat Hill View School you will be instrumental in enhancing ourlearning environment promoting high standards of education andsupporting our vision of academic and personal growth for everystudent.
Key ResponsibilitiesInclude:
The AssistantHeadteacher under the direction ofthe Headteacher will take a majorrole in:
* Formulating and driving theaims and objectives of the school
* Establishingand implementing policies for achieving these aims andobjectives
* Effectively managing staff andresources to achieve our objectives
* Monitoringprogress towards the achievement of the schools aims and objectivessecuring concise information is accurately reported to the LSC andThe Oak Partnership Trust
* Strategically leadareas identified in the School Improvement Plan (SIP) andcontribute to the Self Evaluation Framework(SEF)
* Being the schools Deputy/ DesignatedSafeguarding Lead undertaking all associated roles andresponsibilities in relation to this including the development ofGovernors and the workforce
* Strategicallyleading and have an oversight of learner and staff attendance andbehaviour
* With the support of the Headteacherleading the schools Performance Management and ContinuousProfessional Development Cycle (all staff) including the New StaffInduction Programme
* Leading strategically theQuality of Education including whole school curriculum developmentteaching learning assessment and educational standards theleadership and management of key stage and curriculum team leadersworking closely with theHeadteacher.
* Undertaking the normalresponsibilities of the class teacher ifrequired
* Being a member of the seniorleadership team
* Supporting and representing theHeadteacher at meetings as and whenrequired
