Then South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the Trust for you! We are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and inspirational band 6 midwife, to join our dynamic Midwifery team.

We are a dynamic and diverse Trust, with a friendly and supportive atmosphere and our team delivers of over 5500 births a year between our two hospitals; The James Cook University Hospital and the Friarage (FHN) maternity centre.

The Friarage maternity centre, which is a midwifery-led unit, offers a comfortable relaxed environment for women and their partners and is a good choice for women who are keen to have a natural birth with minimum intervention.

The post-holder will be based at FHN Maternity Centre (MLU), however, will be expected to work at our James Cook Hospital site on occasion and at times of escalation.


Main duties of the job

We offer a bespoke training induction to smooth your transition into our team and we welcome your fresh energy, experience and passion to drive our service forward. You will have the opportunity to utilise your well-honed skills to provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care for women and their families in our area.

The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.

* Develop your leadership effectiveness and skills
* Equip staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead and complete service improvements within the scope of your role.

After you complete these six and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We also offer a range of additional in-house and externally provided courses and bitesize programmes through our Leadership and Improvement Team.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* NMC registered midwife
* Examination of the newborn


Knowledge and Skills

* To maintain clinical skills to provide high quality midwifery care in a variety of settings.
* To develop skills and experience with the promotion, support and assistance of breastfeeding.
* To hold and continually enhance effective communication skills in order to work efficiently within a multidisciplinary team.
* To develop awareness and skills in clinical audit systems, leading to improvements in care for women, babies and their families.
* To develop skills and experience with the promotion, support and assistance of infant feeding.
* To utilise their professional judgement to assess problems/conditions and needs to plan care for women and babies.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
