Join to apply for the General Manager role at People's Palace Projects. PPP is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the operational heart of our dynamic, research-led arts charity. This role responsibilities include overseeing financial, HR, and administrative functions to support our team and programme of arts research that tackles social and climate injustices through the arts.
Based at Queen Mary University of London, PPP is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation with over 28 years of collaborative arts projects with artists, academics, and activists.
Responsibilities
* Financial Leadership: Oversee all financial management, including budgeting, payroll, management accounts, cashflow, and leading the annual audit process.
* Human Resources Management: Develop and manage HR policies, oversee recruitment and contracting, and champion a positive and inclusive working environment.
* Administration & Governance: Ensure robust organisational structures, manage Board of Trustees processes, and ensure compliance with statutory bodies.
* Funder & Stakeholder Reporting: Manage statistical monitoring and lead reporting to funders, including Arts Council England and QMUL.
* Team Leadership: Line manage the Administration & Finance Officer and contribute to the strategic development of PPP as a member of the Governance Group.
Qualifications
* Operational leadership with extensive knowledge of financial management, preferably within the charity or arts sector.
* Strong HR management knowledge, UK employment law, and third-sector governance.
* Effective communicator and relationship-builder, experienced with senior management, Boards, and external stakeholders.
* Organised and proactive with experience in line management, audit processes, and administrative systems.
* Commitment to PPP’s mission and to fostering equitable and inclusive working practices.
* Experience reporting to Arts Council England is highly valuable.
