We’re looking for a Bridge Engineer to join our Structures & Geotechnical team in Birmingham.
Location: Birmingham
Hours: 37.5 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.
Salary: Starting from £38,000 per annum

Overview
As a Bridge Engineer within our Structures Team at Kier Design, you’ll play a key role in delivering a wide range of high-profile infrastructure projects. These include National Highways Major Projects, National Highways SDF, TfL frameworks, Northamptonshire schemes, and South Wales Trunk Road Agency (SWTRA) contracts.
You will be responsible for the production of technical designs and documentation, supporting the Lead Engineer to successfully deliver highways structures maintenance and new-build schemes—ensuring projects meet client requirements, on time and within budget.
Are you…
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or HNC/HND equivalent)?
- Working towards or achieved IEng / CEng (MICE, MIStructE or equivalent)?
- Experienced in the inspection, assessment or design of highways structures?
- Familiar with Eurocodes and UK standards (DMRB, MCHW)?
- A proactive team player with strong technical and analytical skills?

What you will be responsible for
- Producing technical designs, calculations, drawings and reports
- Supporting Lead Engineers on project delivery
- Assisting with maintenance and new-build structures schemes
- Ensuring designs meet client briefs, standards and programme requirements
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
What we are looking for
- Have a degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering
- Are working towards IEng or CEng status
- Have experience or knowledge of structures design (maintenance or new build)
- Have understanding of DMRB, MCHW and CDM regulations
- Have experience within an engineering consultancy environment
- Have strong teamwork, communication and time management skills
