Section Engineer

Location: ideally close to the M25. Working days or nights depending on the project and occasional weekends.
Main Duties
* Liaise with site management to complete quality take offs.
* Develop awareness of potential commercial opportunities and issues with the project.
* Complete hazard/risk assessments and method statements, including alerting relevant personnel to control measures and work methods.
* Carry out inspections and testing to ensure conformance of the works with the design and specification.
* Train, manage and mentor Junior Engineers.
* Manage sectional setting out requirements on site.
* Manage the sectional service plans/drawings and issue permits accordingly.
* Assist the QS / Project Manager with providing the relevant information for records and claims purposes.
* Manage the as‑built requirements of your section and contribute to the completion of the site health and safety file.
* Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the company procedures.
Requirements
* Good understanding of ITPs and quality assurance processes and working with specification documents.
* Strong leadership skills and knowledge of construction practices, capable of working independently.
* Experience in highway or infrastructure projects, preferably with a main contractor.
* Valid CSCS card in the appropriate discipline.
* Preferable Civil Engineering degree or equivalent.
* Current SSTS card, First Aid, NRWSA, Cat and Genny certificates.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally.
