Senior Editor - Educational Publishing
This role supports the development of educational products by working across sectors to create pedagogically sound content that aligns with the Customer Value Proposition, meets market needs, and is delivered on time and within budget. Under the guidance of the Portfolio Product Manager and Managing Editor, you will help define value-added product components and assist with market research during early product lifecycle stages. Responsibilities include briefing and overseeing editors and suppliers, conducting quality checks, managing risks and issues, specifying products, and collaborating with senior colleagues on content creation.
You will work closely with writers on major projects to guide content development, ensuring educational effectiveness and market relevance. The role involves managing project schedules, coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional teams to meet publication deadlines, and monitoring budgets. Additionally, the role supports commissioning activities and collaborates with departments such as Design, Digital, and Production to ensure pedagogical appropriateness. The position also involves identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation, implementing new processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Publishing experience
* Experience developing educational products and teaching and learning content
* Good knowledge of the product development process, ideally within educational publishing
* Understanding of English learning and teaching principles
* Understanding of educational teaching and learning requirements
* Fluent in spoken and written English
* Attention to detail, accuracy, team-oriented
* Excellent communication skills
* Problem-solving ability
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of English language teaching
* Experience teaching, preferably in an ELT environment
* Recognized ELT qualification or English Language Teaching certification
