Contract Mechanical Design Engineer – SolidWorks IR35 Status: Out
Hourly Rate: Circa £45 DOE
Contract Term: 12 months, 40 hours, Monday to Friday
Location: In office, Staffordshire

They are the world’s largest specialists in the design, manufacture, and rental of electrical load testing equipment and power conversion units. With a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and a strong international presence, including North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, they continue to drive innovation and excellence in power testing.
We are seeking a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer with SolidWorks expertise to support two key projects focused on product and process improvements. The role involves modeling components from scratch, converting designs from 2D to 3D, and collaborating with electrical and software engineers to develop new and existing products.
Responsibilities include:
* Modeling and designing mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks
* Converting 2D AutoCAD drawings into 3D models to enhance manufacturing efficiency
* Designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM & DFMA)
* Developing comprehensive engineering drawings with modifications and improvements
* Participating in new product development and improving existing designs for better efficiency and performance
* Collaborating with electrical engineers to integrate drawings and models
Experience required:
* Proficiency in modeling and designing mechanical components and assemblies with SolidWorks
* Ability to convert 2D AutoCAD drawings into 3D models for manufacturing improvements
* Knowledge of DFM & DFMA principles
* Experience in developing engineering drawings and modifying designs
* Background in new product development and design optimization
